Ska + Techno = "Skachno"

Posted by ragingmullet May. 29, 2008 @ 11:52 PM EDT

Ska is best defined as HyruleanHyroe puts it...
"Ska originated in Jamaica as a mixture of Jazz, Calypso, and Mento. That's not what it is now. The majority of modern Ska bands can be described simply as punk/rock with horns. Emphasis on offbeats, Ska chords (top three notes of a major chord, I believe), upbeat tempo. It's great to dance to, listen to, do whatever to. You want an example, try searching for 'Reel Big Fish' or 'Mighty Mighty Bosstones' on youtube, check out a music video or two. "

Techno is basically electronic dance music and/or anything you want it to be. This being just one of the many reasons techno is amazing. :P

Anyhow, as you can guess I love Ska music and I love Techno music. So I decided to try to develop a new genre that is a combination of the two. The official name given is "Skachno." This name came from a suggestion that ChronicKillers made after listen to my "Ska Void 1"

So a new genre is born on 5/29/08..."Skachno"- a combination of ska elements mixed with techno and dance music.
